I loved seeing all the hair and makeup prep. VS is going more and more natural looks with both hair and makeup this year. Don’t let the smooth looks fool you, there is A LOT of prep that goes into doing the fresh look!

What I love about this show is that the makeup artists and hairstylist have to be at the top of their game and understand what products to use to achieve this look for television and photos. The VS Angels go through vigorous prep via their workout routines, skin regimes, etc. But when creating looks like this on not so prepped models here are some tips.
1. Skin prep is super important. Make sure that you have serums and moisturizers. For fatigued and dehydrated skin, serums are the best! Depending on how dry the skin, a moisturizer follow up may be a must. Also fast absorbing eye creams can be the difference between a flawless or fatigue looking model.

2. Brows… A natural brow shape is a must! No squared off, over inked/darkened, or overdrawn brows allowed. Think soft when applying brows for this look. Every stroke should be blended and hairs kept in place via a brow gel or a pomade, preferably a non-colored product. Soft tones and powders should be used. Warm tones over cool tones unless the model’s hair is noticeably and ash tone. Go with lighter shades rather than darker so that you can build a more natural look. Keep the shape very close to the original brow shape in order to keep the brow hairs as the bulk of the definition.

3. Lips are over looked a lot of times, and can make or break this type of look. First start by exfoliating the lips before you start the makeup. Moisturize with a balm that is not glossy, like a chapstick or cocoa butter.
After you are done with the rest of the makeup, make sure that lip product has soaked in. Remove excess product or wetness by blotting with tissue.
Next make sure you pick a very natural lip liner if not just a clear wax pencil. Draw in the lip line, color in the full lip (even if using clear), and blot any excess product.
Lastly pick a creamy color, no shimmer and not matte, that is close to the skin and lip tone. Apply to entire lip. Now choose a color that has just a bit of pink, rose, blush, berry, etc that complements your skin tone. Only apply a small amount to the middle of your lips and blend to the outer corners of your mouth. This will help keep the shade natural with a bit of color.
